Uttarayan ...better known as the festival of kites
Well flying kites always used to be great fun during childhood....I used to think that my tryst with kites had got over until this uttarayan..What better than to spend an entire day flying kites.The sky strewn with kites is such u a great delight for the eyes.Had to struggle a lot to get my first kite flying.Atleast i am happy that i flew one..but ppl over here have a great knack they get it to flight in no time..hmm seriously practice makes man perfect for sure..One thing is to be appreciated that is the ppl attitude out here ..they will speend the entire day flying kites wont even bother abt the scorching heat ..reminding themselves that uttarayan comes only once a year, so make most of it..atleast the surati fun loving ppl ...who believe in a great weekend after the doldrums of week believe in enjoying the most come what may..Well had a great oppoertunity to learn the new terminologies ....

Pech...the situation where in u cross over other kite and u have a kind of fight between the two kites
lapet...had a great fun shouting this word..when u happen to cut the opponents kite u shout it loud asking ur opponent to wind up his thread
I was thinking that ppl would slow down by the end of the day but i was taken up by a surprise as soon as it was dark around but ppl started using their white kites and we had a different plan altogether we flew the biggest of our kites ....then came the wonderful thing the lamps which definitely was a great delight to the eyes(tukkal)....Its basically a lamp made of paper and with a candle inside...Its really awesome when we find ten lamps like that suspended on the kite thtead..The kite was nowhere in scene all we could do is look at the arch made by the lamps hanging from the thread...
I am nearing the end of my days in the college and definitely the great time i had being part of Uttarayn is definitely nothing less than a treasure....
